Isabelle Roughol, LinkedIn's former international editor, joins the Public Interest News Foundation

The Public Interest News Foundation announced Isabelle Roughol as a new member of its board of trustees.

Isabelle is an independent writer, consultant on media leadership and innovation, and journalism instructor.

She was a co-founder of LinkedIn's editorial team and led its global expansion across Europe, Latin America, Asia and Australia from 2012 to 2020. She received a Bachelor’s of Journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia and worked as a reporter and editor at The Columbia Missourian (USA), The Cambodia Daily (Phnom Penh) and Le Figaro (Paris).

Isabelle said: ‘Sometimes I can barely recognise the news industry I graduated into not that long ago. There has been painful turmoil – and an incredible burgeoning of new ideas. Small and independent news publishers are some of the most promising innovators in news at the moment, inventing new ways of journalism and often serving forgotten communities.

By joining as a PINF trustee, I want to champion their growth and support them with what experience I have, so they may better serve all of us. I am grateful to my fellow trustees for their confidence in me.’

Isabelle joins PINF’s three founding trustees: the former Chair of the House of Lords Communications Committee, Lord Inglewood; the Deputy Editor of news website The Conversation, Jo Adetunji; and the President of the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC), Patrick Swaffer.
